At Justactive.co.uk we feature many holidays to beautiful, exotic - but fragile places. We are clear that there is more that the travel industry can do to protect the environment and respect local communities in overseas destinations and are committed to making sure we do our bit to encourage responsible travel.

We acknowledge that the UK travel industry is near the beginning of the journey towards fully sustainable leisure travel, particularly in the more “mass market” areas of the industry however, we are determined to play our part in furthering the cause of responsible travel by making sure we are only working with responsible activity and adventure travel companies.

Here are some ways you can help whilst on holiday:

1. Don't touch coral and leave wildflowers to grow
2. Be sensitive to local customs and traditions
3. Ask permission before you take photographs of people or their places of worship
4. Take the time to learn a few words of the local language
5. Sample local markets and restaurants and use public transport
6. Do not buy products made from endangered species
7. Find out how much is an appropriate tip for service
8. Take a shower rather than a bath Re-use towels and turn off the air conditioning and lights in your room when you're out
9. When watching wild-life don't encourage your guide or driver to get closer to the animals than is acceptable
10. Never feed wild animals or attempt to touch them.
